Cambridge Students for Justice was founded by a group of elementary school children and their parents after a second grader was viciously attacked in a horrific Islamophobic assault at a Cambridge public school. Despite a confession from the educator responsible, they were allowed back into the classroom after approximately a thirty-day suspension, and the child and their family endured severe retaliation and a coordinated smear campaign under the leadership of Principal Abdel Sepulveda at Peabody Elementary School in Cambridge, Massachusetts for reporting the assault. This incident opened the floodgates, exposing a pervasive and deeply entrenched pattern of discriminatory practices, institutional negligence, and the systematic silencing of marginalized families across Cambridge Public Schools.
We would get justice for this child, for every silenced family, and for those still too afraid to speak.
